DC Comics breaking into comedy with NBC workplace pilot
The insurance office characters will probably be made up for the show, because that particular industry has been neglected by DC Comics writers.
Before you roll your eyes at the sound of the show, take a look at the overall synopsis.
Submitted for your approval: after previously teaming up on Lucifer, NBC and DC Comics are uniting for Powerless, a half-hour comedy that is reportedly tonally similar to The Office. The show is about the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains. There is definitely a chance for this to be a satirical comedy along the lines of The Tick if the right showrunner is brought in.
Powerless reunites Queen with NBC where he created and executive produced comedy A To Z, also from WBTV. Queen’s credits also include FOX’s series Drive and Cars 2.
And since NBC has such a great track record with treating DC Comics properties well they…oh, wait…no they do not.
Some DC characters are expected to appear in Powerless, although its not yet clear which ones would be included. No matter how wrapped up I get in the spectacle and action, a little part of me always wonders, what happens to the poor folks who need to file insurance claims when superhero vs. villain battles result in mass death and destruction?
