Army XI beat PCB XI in I-Day cricket match
In the spirit of independence, a friendly T20 match will be played between army cricket team and Pakistan XI at 3 pm in Army Cricket Ground, Rawalpindi today (Friday).
Indep Day-solidarity with all who sacrificed 4 Pak. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) chief Major General Asim Bajwa was the wicketkeeper for the delivery.
PCB-XI, batting first, scored 103 runs in allotted overs. The COAS was the chief guest on the occasion. Army Eleven successfully achieved the target on the last ball and won the match by six wickets.
General Sharif later met the Pakistan team players including Test Captain Misbahul Haq and Ahmed Shehzad and exchanged views with them. Officials of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Cricket Board were also present at the event.
Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa tweeted that the proceeds of the Azadi (Independence) Cup cricket match, played between the national and army teams, will be utilised to support IDPs.
It is pertinent to mention here that ISPR once again deprived sports journalists of twin cities of covering the mega event and only national broadcaster was allowed to cover it.
