Giants place Angel Pagan on 15-day DL with knee tendinitis
The Giants put their center fielder on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with right patella tendinitis, an issue that has affected Pagan both at the plate and in the outfield.
Aoki said he could have played. Pagan had a plasma enrichment injection in the knee and it will require rest just for that. “I probably got a concussion from the concussion tests”.
“I was trying to battle out there, but I wasn’t helping the team much”, he said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. “We think when his time is up (Aug. 18), he’ll be good to go”.
“It was really long”, Aoki said through an interpreter. Nice to be back out at the ballpark after two weeks of not seeing live baseball. Bochy said second baseman Joe Panik, who is on the DL with lower back inflammation, most likely will not be ready to return when eligible Monday.
Also Tuesday, right-hander Tim Lincecum threw a 40-pitch bullpen session.
Nori Aoki, who was hit by a pitch on the helmet by the Cubs Jake Arietta this past Sunday, appears to be okay.
C Andrew Susac (sprained right thumb) began an injury-rehab stint at Class A San Jose on Tuesday by going 1-for-4.
LHP Madison Bumgarner struck out seven consecutive batters Tuesday night, 12 in all, and pitched a complete game in a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros. So it’s unlikely he’ll be here for the homestand unless the club has a strong need. “It’s not so much that it’s competitive than the fact that he’s a big part of their club and they’re not looking to give him away”. He’ll miss another turn and will be activated from the 15 day disabled list sometime next week.
