Donald Trump once joked about dating his daughter

The one issue that launched Donald Trump to the top of the Republican list of presidential candidates was his disdain for illegal immigration. Trump not only doesn’t backpedal but also doubles down.

To some extent, I misspoke, because what I really meant is that not all of Trump’s defenders are necessarily his supporters. But Trump also suggested a second point of leverage: imposing trade tariffs, import taxes that could be used to fund a wall’s construction.

“Every guy in the country wants to go out with my daughter”. Trump would have to abrogate the treaty and get Congress to agree. The fascinating part is Trump’s ADHD. He said he would end federal funding of the organization’s abortions but continue funding of other services that help women. If it ever crossed your mind that Trump acts like a spoiled two-year-old brat who throws temper tantrums until he gets what he wants because no one has the guts to tell him no, you’re right. But his knack for colorful comments goes far beyond that. That’s ironic, because I admire a number of things about Trump and appreciate his firing back at the bully stewards of political correctness and setting an example on that score.

But in the various Twitter exchanges, I noticed the passion among his supporters. He just flatly can’t stay on topic, and I don’t think it’s fake. They are reasonable to believe that only an outsider with spectacular business success can restore America’s greatness.

It is a testament to Trump’s tenuous grasp on the most basic matters that he can take a crystal-clear conservative priority, defunding Planned Parenthood, and make it a head-scratching hash of seeming contradictions.

Well, in the first place, I don’t remember Trump claiming to have had a conversion. But I’m open to the possibility.

The cost of a border wall is much higher than the total annual value of Mexican exports, let alone the highest possible revenues that could be raised off of an import tax.
