Louis van Gaal ‘destroying’ Manchester United – ex-Barcelona star Stoichkov
Hristo Stoichkov says his former Barcelona coach Louis van Gaal is “destroying” Manchester United, and warned Pedro Rodriguez not to move to Old Trafford.
Stoichkov, who played under Van Gaal when he was the manager of Barcelona has said that if Pedro joins United, Van Gaal would destroy him.
“Players do suffer, as the football is so mediocre”, Stoichkov told Onda Cero about Van Gaal.
Manchester United target Pedro has hinted at a possible Barcelona exit after netting an extra-time victor for the Catalan club in the Super Cup. He admitted that “what Van Gaal has done to Valdes he has shown he is a bad person.”
I would never leave if I was Pedro, never, because if he goes there he’s just another player.
According to Telegraph, Van Gaal promised more game time to Pedro and it seemed that the deal was close.
Di Maria was signed by United primarily as a central midfielder following his astonishing success in that position for Real Madrid the season before, but he was soon shifted on to the wing, and even into attack.
He was one of the star names to be alienated and moved on by the Dutchman, along with Guillermo Amor and Juan Antonio Pizzi, to make way for Xavi Hernandez, Carles Puyol and Andres Iniesta, who were all given their debuts by van Gaal. “I wish he will stay because he is a great player and he gives a lot to the team”, Iniesta said in the press conference ahead of the game against Sevilla.
Stoichkov played five years for Barcelona from 1990 to 1995, scoring 77 goals in 149 appearances.
“Pedro asked us for the transfer“.
Van Gaal has a history of falling out with players. I’m an ambitious player.
Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez on Tuesday revealed that Pedro had effectively handed in a transfer request as the winger is looking for increased first-team action. “He won 1-0 (against Tottenham) because of an own goal”.
And finally, The Metro believes United are also set to announce the signing of Nicolas Gaitan this week after agreeing a £28 million deal.
“The sports director says I said I want out?”
