Bush causes a stir on women’s health issues
Appearing at the Southern Baptist Convention in Nashville, Bush was talking about Planned Parenthood.
Democratic 2016 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton jumped on Bush’s remarks, saying during a Tuesday evening event in Denver, Colorado that Bush’s comments show the GOP position on women’s issues. The first one said the money would better used in community health centers and rural clinics that provide women’s health services.
He added that critical services must be accessible to all, more specifically to women having low incomes.
He said that he had referred exclusively to the obtuse federal funding of 0 million given to Planned Parenthood.
“Planned Parenthood has apologized for the insensitivity of the employee who was taped, and they will continue to answer questions of Congress and others”, Clinton said in an interview last month.
Before the comments that landed the candidate in hot water, Bush said the next president should defund Planned Parenthood – a line that was met with loud applause among the evangelical crowd.
Clinton also criticized Bush for questioning the amount the federal government spends on women’s health during a forum earlier Tuesday.
Jeb Bush took an off-handed jab at women’s health funding and quickly found himself in the middle of a culture clash with Hillary Clinton.
“This backwards ideology isn’t only the exact opposite of what women need from their next president – it could put the health of millions of women in jeopardy”, she said.
“Just because someone doesn’t agree with you on public policy doesn’t make them not worthy of our prayer”, he said.
For all of Bush’s discipline and his mastery of the issues, he has yet to show he can channel the seething anger among Republicans like Trump.

From Clinton’s official account, her campaign tweeted Bush’s remark, tagged the former Florida governor and said: “You are absolutely, unequivocally wrong”.
The comment came during a discussion about Senate Republicans’ failure to defund Planned Parenthood following the release of damning videos that allege employees are illegally selling baby body parts.
Yesterday afternoon, Jeb Bush was eager to bash Planned Parenthood for reasons he couldn’t quite explain.
In 2013, Planned Parenthood received 45 percent of its funding from the US government through grants totaling $540 million, according to the organization’s 2012-2013 annual report.
