Ex-ISI chief wanted to take over state, claims Mushahidullah
In his interview to BBC, Federal Minister Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan has said that the former Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. General Zaheerul Islam wanted to overthrow the PML-N government and take over the country.
The Prime Minister has sought an explanation from the Minister for his statement in an interview broadcast by BBC.
The spokesman added that PM Nawaz has no knowledge of any tape which was presented to him by the minister as claimed.
Reacting over the shocking revelations, Information Minister Pervez Rashid categorically rejected Mushahidullah’s claims and said the government has sought an explanation from the minister. In an interview with bbc urdu.com, Mushahidullah said the conspiracy was exposed by Pakistan’s civil intelligence agency, the Intelligence Bureau (IB), when it recorded Zaheerul Islam’s telephonic conversation.
Mushahidullah claimed that the conspiracy was not being hatched only against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but also against Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif. “General Zahir confessed it was his voice when inquired from COAS”.
Minister also said that we were aware about the meeting that had been held between Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri in London and that some officials of ISI were also present during the meeting.
The prime minister was very much annoyed over what he termed the irresponsible statement given by his minister and he directed Mushahidullah to come up with a clarification. In addition, since the government has to deal with numerous challenges from terrorism to Kasur child sex abuse scandal, the PML-N must show political maturity and prove itself as it claims to be a party of “highly experienced, visionary and mature” people.
He said by then, the workers of PAT and PTI had occupied PTV headquarters and were marching towards PM Secretariat and the government had no option but to shift the premier to a safer place.
He went on to claim that there were 25 Kalashnikovs apiece in both vehicles. Mushahid said the government had decided it in principle that power would not be used against participants of the sit-in, because those hatching conspiracies wanted the same to achieve their nefarious designs.
When asked why Nawaz Sharif suddenly left PM House and went Lahore along with his family at a time when the “conspiracy” was executed, Mushahidullah said the decision was taken for his security.
“Though the PML-N government registered a case against General Musharraf, he could not be held accountable the way he should have been”, added Mushahidullah.
But leaving aside the joke as someone see the face of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with full of worries and sorrows while attending the Independence Day Ceremony on August 14.
