Mousa Dembele wants to score more often for Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have put a £15 million price-tag on midfielder Mousa Dembele in order to ward off interest from Premier League rivals Sunderland.
The Belgium worldwide joined Spurs back in 2012 from Fulham, but over the last 12 months the central midfielder has found himself under the spotlight for some poor performances.
The 28-year-old started just ten Premier League games last term as he struggled to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.
“I think we need to try to provide him [with the help] to show his real quality here”.
He now lacks the directness to play as a wide forward – a role Pochettino is seemingly trying to fit him into this season – and he lacks the passing range and tempo to thrive in the deeper midfield role he has occupied for much of his Spurs career.
“I’m happy I started and I just try to develop every time I play, I want to show everyone what I can do”, Dembele said. I want to show everyone what I can do.
Spurs paid £15m for Dembele when he moved from Craven Cottage three years ago.
“I want to score goals and make goals”.
“This season I want to be successful personally and with the team, which is most important”. “[Sergio] Romero made some good saves and I’m sure United had respect for us after that”.
