Say Hidely-Ho To The World’s First Ned Flanders Themed Metal Band

Elaborating on where the idea for the Okilly Dokilly’s came from Head Ned revealed the band’s origin story: “Myself and our drummer [Bled Ned] were in line at a grocery store, entertaining ourselves by coming up with really cutesy names for really hardcore, brutal bands”. But how on earth does a Ned Flanders-themed metal band even come into being? Their name? Okilly Dokilly, obviously, with heavy emphasis on “kill” and “kill”.

“Most of us have played in other bands around our hometown”. But how do the Neds sound against the several other Simpsons-inspired groups?

They wear glasses, they have moustaches, they look incredible in a green sweater and pink polo top combination, and they pen metal songs whose lyrics consist mostly of direct quotes from the mouth of iconic Simpsons character Ned Flanders.

Despite Ned Flanders’ religious benevolence and gentle demeanor, he tends to inspire quite a bit of musical hate. You can check out the group’s Facebook page here.

“All That Is Left [one of their tracks] is pretty fun”, Head Ned said.

“Not as fast as Bartcore, and a little cleaner than Krusty Punk”. That is sadly not the case, as only Head Ned can claim to be wrong-handed. Do they want to make it big, headlining arena shows one day? Or a cease and desist letter.

The band’s first show is September 5 in Phoenix, but you can check out their demos via BandCamp. There were some omissions – deliberate (Fall Out Boy) or otherwise (Dr Colossus, Dogs With Bees In Their Mouths) – but, to be fair, the whole world is overflowing with Simpsonian references, so it’s unsurprising that we would have missed a few in our endeavour to create our hypothetical festival.
