Siri saves teen in US
According to a report from Fox 17, it seems that an 18-year old was working under his truck when it fell on top of him. Salvation was found in the form of Siri’s “beep-beep” activation noise, making him realize he was sitting on his phone.
“A tool like Siri is a modern-day rescue item that we didn’t have in the past and potentially saved him from more serious or long-term complications from his crush injury”.
A teenager was pulled to safety after using Apple’s Siri app to call for help when he was trapped underneath his truck.
What can I help you with?
Ray used his bottom to activate Siri, which called emergency services. His actual maneuver isn’t specified in the report, nor is whether his phone was in his front or back pocket.
But the disembodied voice which replied to his frantic calls did not come from the heavens – it came from the iPhone in his back pocket.
Hey, Siri, could you call 911 because I’m stuck under a really heavy truck. After several attempts, he heard a voice on the other end of the line.
“It was just scary”, said Christina Lee, a dispatcher with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. It was a shot in the dark.
“I didn’t know if she could hear me or not, but I heard her say that help was just around the corner”.
“He had broken the seventh, eighth, ninth and eleventh ribs which are lower ribs, and then he had probably crushed his kidney”.
“To survive and to be able to walk out, I have a great family and friends that are willing to pray and a God that will help me”, Ray said. Ray will head to college in Mississippi next month to possibly pursue a career in the ministry.
