Terminator Genisys: Emilia Clarke (EXCLUSIVE)
Whether he was a consultant on bangs-for-bucks Terminator Genisys isn’t clear but his flexible notion of “now and then” appears to be a guiding principle.
The future did not have to be this way. And I don’t just mean the large mythos surrounding the franchise, the ability to throw in time travel, or the human-killing machines that are Terminators, all of which is incredibly interesting. I will wait to see it before I post any comments on it here, so in the meantime, here’s a brief excerpt from Jeremy’s review: “Terminator Genisys is a blended heap of a mess”. The great sin of “Genisys” is that it costs millions and yet isn’t worth a dime.
If you’re confused right now, you’re not alone. To stop the planet’s ruthless destruction before it ever happens, Reese is sent through time to 1984 L.A., where Sarah Connor is supposedly unaware of her role in humanity’s future. That helps, as does Jason Clarke gleefully slipping into a fairly slimy role as Connor and Emilia Clarke doing her best to channel Linda Hamilton’s kick-ass spirit, which works about 75 percent of the time (for the remainder, she’s trying to restrain her British accent, with mixed results). The main attraction in the Terminator movies (minus 2009’s Terminator Salvation)continues to be Schwarzenegger, whose classic one liners (though still humorous, if not played out), are more or less used for nostalgic purposes than anything.
But Reese finds the past radically altered.
This movie isn’t what people thought it would be, either. They are far too busy battling Terminators – including an Arnie look-alike, a shape-shifting T-1000 and, of course, an upgraded model even more powerful than the rest.
A film set is home to numerous departments, whose workers all strive to make the best movie possible – and the weapons master may be one of the most intense positions of them all. The erstwhile action icon has plenty of strengths, but narration isn’t one of them.
“The body builder they picked for me to fight was really an extraordinary kind of champion body builder, he had terrific muscles and so that was a great idea to use that approach”.
The year is 2029, and John Connor, leader of the resistance continues the war against the machines. The cast and crew of Terminator: Genisys, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kyle Clements, Emilia Clarke, and Jai Courtney dazzled at the Los Angeles premiere red carpet event. Reese then has memories of himself as a young child.in these memories comes a warning that Genisys (an operating system that can theoretically take over the world) will become Skynet in 2017.
That sort of reception, if shared by audiences, would edge most ageing stars closer to the scrapheap of action-star obsolescence – except Schwarzenegger is convinced that he’s still got what it takes and is determined to show it.
