Splatoon’s Rainmaker mode looks fantastic
Friday night will see the Wii U’s ink-splattering multiplayer party game receive yet another new content update, this time adding a new game mode to the Ranked Battle playlist. If the player in control of the Rainmaker gets splatted, the idol will fall and reactivate its shield. The Rainmaker is insane heavy, so you can’t Super Jump while carrying it. Hopefully your teammates will watch your back!
Introducing…. Rainmaker! In Rainmaker, both teams compete to snag the, uhhh, Rainmaker. “Once you’ve got it, the goal is to carry it into the other team’s base!” They’ll be part of the Ranked Battle rotation and available for custom matches, starting tonight at 7PM PST. It can function similar to an Inkzooka, meaning players can charge up extra-powerful shots to take out enemy Inklings.
Rainmaker is also the last piece of free DLC Nintendo announced prior to Splatoon’s release, raising questions about future updates for the wildly popular team-based online shooter.
