Houston Texans coach told mom to miss ‘Hard Knock’ episode
Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien may have been completely aware of the HBO show “Hard Knocks,” filming his team’s camp, but he still felt the need to tell his mother not to catch the premier episode.
“I called my parents and I asked them not to watch it,” O’Brien said. “Especially my mother. She’s Irish Catholic and she goes to Mass I think every day. She’s not going to be very happy with me.”
“It’s always been important to me to just be myself,” O’Brien said. “Whether you succeed or fail in life, at least you did it being yourself. You know I’m not trying to be somebody else, and that’s what I try to do is just be myself. I’m not really concerned about cameras. But like I said, I may get a phone call tomorrow morning from my mother.”
It’s unclear why O’Brien feels uncomfortable allowing his mother to view the season debut (Tuesday at 10 pm EST), but it would be no surprise if he wanted to clean up his language first.
While at Penn State, O’Brien had a few times when he allowed some swear words to slip — like this one.
