Independence Day: Taj Mahal gets Twitter handle!
It is recognized as the symbol of true love and architectural brilliance.
The bid is meant to boost footfall at the almost 400-year-old mausoleum – one of the most visited and cherished destinations of the world. And now, Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan’s gift to his wife Mumtaz Mahal has its own Twitter account.
As the state approaches towards assembly polls in the next two years, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a Samajwadi digital application in state capital Lucknow.
Taj Mahal, which goes by the handle @TajMahal on Twitter already has a verified account and almost 2,000 followers at the time of writing this.
Taj Mahal also became the first wonder of the world to mark its presence in social networking sites.
The official inauguration of the twitter handle took place this morning after several days of suspense – the Agra circle of the Archaeological Survey of India had denied permission to hold the event at the Taj, citing security and environmental concerns. “Those who have visited me and follow me here and those who haven’t seen me and yet follow me here”, the official handle tweeted after its launch.
