Child steals liquor from Pembroke Park store, sheriff’s office says
A thieving South Florida mom scouted out an aisle full of liquor and then coached her 7-year-old daughter to walk off with a bottle of booze, surveillance video released Friday by police shows.
This shocking CCTV captures a mother teaching her young daughter the art of shoplifting.
In the video, a woman and girl can be seen walking along an aisle when the woman points at a bottle and walks away, leaving the girl alone.
Within moments the youngster grabs a large bottle of tequila, but deciding it was too heavy replaces it for a smaller one. She walks to the counter and waits for the woman to block the view of the clerk before slipping outside.
The store clerks confronted the woman about the theft.
The child reaches for the large bottle of tequila, but can not lift it. The woman then tells the child to return and take a smaller bottle, which she does, selecting a bottle of 1800 Silver Tequila.
The young girl then went to a white Chevrolet Impala or similar model waiting in the parking lot, authorities said.
As Secretary of State John Kerry spoke outside the U.S. embassy in Havana where the Stars and Stripes is once again flying for the first time in decades, several South Florida residents made their way to Cafe Versailles to share their thoughts, positive and negative, on the historic event. “That’s what scares me the most”, said the store’s owner. She has tattoos high on her shoulders or upper back area.
The girl appeared to be about seven years old. She carried a pink cross body purse.
The bottle of liquor was worth $27.
