John Lasseter Reveals All At D23; Disney’s “Gigantiic”, Pixar’s “Coco” Unveiled
Disney and its subsidiary Pixar on Friday announced a slew of new animated movies coming down the pipe, including a love story in the “Toy Story” series and a modern take on Jack and the Beanstalk.
Said Howard, “For the role of Gazelle, Zootopia’s most beloved superstar, there was only one person on our wish list: Shakira”.
He was joined on stage by various Toy Story characters, including Woody, Jessie and Buzz, along with the franchise’s famous “green soldiers”, who appeared from the ceiling above the audience’s heads, shimmying down ropes into the auditorium. Who are her parents?
“Finding Dory” will be released in 3D to theaters on June 17, 2016.
The film, due out in June 2016, according to USA Today, will follow Dory’s attempts to find her family all the way across the ocean in Monterey, Calif. As revealed in the original, she suffers from short-term memory loss – but something in the sequel triggers her recall.
O’Neill was actually in attendance, introduced by DeGeneres with Ty Burrell, who voices a beluga whale named Bailey and Kaitlyn Olson who voices Destiny, a very confused whale shark. “I wanted to know that if this charming, forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be OK”, he said. We can’t speak for everyone at D23, but if that moment didn’t sock everyone in the gut, nothing did.
The new Jack and the Beanstalk film, “Gigantic“, is set for release in 2018 and will feature music from songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who penned the hit “Let it Go” from the movie “Frozen“.
“Coco“, from director Lee Unkrich (“Toy Story 3”), will be about a 12-year-old boy living with his big family in Mexico who inadvertently sets off a life-altering chain of events.
In November it was confirmed that Toy Story would be returning for a fourth installment. Not only do we dearly love the characters, but we also love the world of “Toy Story“-the world where toys come to life when people are not in the room has always been rich with many story possibilities”.
The studio previewed its animation slate Friday at the fan convention D23 Expo, with special appearances from voice actors including Ellen DeGeneres and Dwayne Johnson.
TBH, we’re very pleased to hear she’ll be back.
In an interview with CNBC, Lasseter confirms that “It’s a love story with Woody and-and this is news-Bo Peep”.
Fans young and old alike will definitely look forward to see how the story of their well-loved characters will unfold when the movie finally premieres in 2017.
