‘Homeland’ season 5 addresses ISIS, Charlie Hebdo, Snowden
“The first episode’s going to actually cope with Russian Federation, being proper subsequent to Russian Federation, what’s Putin as much as? What’s going on with this tricky relationship there?” he said.
At the Showtime panel at the Television Critics Association (TCAs) briefings in Pasadena, Showtime president David Nevins spoke about the new direction of the show – which has been relocated to Berlin – and how he hopes it will resonate with viewers. A new preview for the season offers our most footage yet, while showrunners promise to touch on Putin, ISIS, Charlie Hebdo and more.
He added that the show “deals with Isis”, which contradicts what the show’s executive producer, Alex Ganza, said at PaleyFest in March. “And so long as they hold it recent, it is a present that is by no means the identical season after season, and people sorts of exhibits are the exhibits that may run”.
Calling Season 5’s arc “a very fresh story”, Nevins claims the show is “better than ever”.
While Showtime isn’t giving away any crucial details about the forthcoming season, Nevins made it clear that lead Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is not in any imminent danger.
Season five will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief.
“It’s a question that we wrestle with because one of the great things about Homeland is that we are able to comment on current events in a way a lot of shows aren’t able to do”.
According to him, the first episode of “Homeland” Season 5, now in production in Germany, will open up on the topic of Putin.
