Chiefs safety Eric Berry expected to play Saturday

Rookie linebacker Ramik Wilson, who was the team’s fourth-round pick (No. 118 overall) out of Georgia, picked off a deflected pass in the third quarter and returned it 27 yards to the Cardinals 4-yard line. Though this game means nothing for their final record it is the beginning of a season where both teams want to get back to the playoffs.

Will the young corners play well? When camp started center Eric Kush, guard Jeff Allen and tackle Donald Stephenson were running with the first string. The former Ute completed 6-of-10 of his passes for 42 yards and an interception.

The Cardinals held cornerback Jerraud Powers out of the game with an oblique injury.

The Chiefs withheld Berry from contact during their first couple of training camp practices in pads, but they lifted his restrictions on physical play.

Linebacker Derrick Johnson and defensive end Mike Devito recorded their first tackle since Week 1 of 2014. “I don’t know how he does it”.

Unfortunately, they are usually one of the biggest storylines of training camp and the preseason.

The rest of the game wasn’t as smooth.

The Chiefs will likely play it especially safe with Berry for more than just the obvious reasons, because they have been cautious with Berry at practice.

On Kansas City’s first possession, Smith was under pressure when he threw the pass intended for open Jason Avant.

Reid was seen smiling on the sideline after that touchdown pass. He isn’t going to play more than one series on Saturday, either.

If preseason games counted, the wide receiver touchdown statistic would have gone with the wind. Arians has been an excellent coach and certainly has a personality fit for the game.
