Samsung Electronics unveils new smartphones in NYC

The Note 5 is available in Black Sapphire and White Pearl colors. BlackBerry, with its full qwerty keyboard, was the mobile device of choice for business users and, for a time, teenagers.

Running on the latest 5.1 Lollipop version of Android, the Note 5 has the same specs as the Note 4: 5.7-inch Super AMOLED 2,560 x 1,440 display. This has happened mainly because Samsung has used the design strategy of glass and metal of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge on the Note 5 and the S6 Edge +.

The new Samsung Pay service will be launching in the US on September 28th 2015 and Samsung is also planning to rollout the new payment service to the UK, Spain and China. Both the smartphones feature similar specs.

Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 5 on Thursday, and fans of Samsung’s Galaxy Note line of smartphones aren’t very happy with it. For our European customers, Samsung’s portfolio will be centred on the Galaxy S6 edge+ which we feel better caters to the market’s needs. Samsung says that launch timing and availability would vary by markets and mobile carriers. He said that the consumer variant of the Gear VR won’t be tremendously different from the now available “Innovator Editions” that was released for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. After all, the footprint is much smaller than even last year’s Galaxy Note Edge, which did have the S Pen included.

Samsung just doubled down on the large smartphone trend at the Galaxy Unpacked event where it unveiled the Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. The phones will go on sale on August 21 in the United States and Canada. The idea is for users to pay for items by waving their smartphone near a store’s checkout register instead of swiping a credit card.
