Man City had private jet for De Bruyn
The Daily Star Sunday says will have to pay £50MILLION to land De Bruyne.
It was claimed in both Germany and Belgium that City had hit Wolfsburg with an increased offer for the 24-year-old after having an initial approach of £47m rejected.
Wolfsburg insist they’re yet to receive any offers for Kevin De Bruyne after denying reports Man City had lodged a £50m bid for the player.
“According to his agent there are several clubs which show their interest”.
Meanwhile, the Mirror reports that City have made a Raheem Sterling for a reported £49m ($77m) fee and Manuel Pellgrini believes he needs one more signing to make a proper title push this season.
City had a private plane on standby to whisk De Bruyne, 24, to Manchester.
‘There is no way we would do something like that, ‘ he said.
However, he does admit that while Wolfsburg are strong financially, they are not in a position to compete with football’s super-powers. “Anything else would be wrong”.
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on the 24-year-old, whose contract expires in 2019.
“Our salary budget is about a third of Bayern’s”.
But he is reluctant to formally ask the Bundesliga club for a transfer.
“The gap to Bayern remains, but it would be nice if we could be the first in line to fill that gap”, Allofs said. We want to build a good team, we are ambitious.
“So from a sporting element for Kevin, there is a chance to complete a deal, but on the other side, Wolfsburg want to try to get closer to Bayern in the Bundesliga and with Kevin it’s easier than it would be without him”.
“We respect Wolfsburg for everything they did rescuing him from Chelsea 18 months ago”.
