Peas in guacamole? Don’t be a dip
The New York Times is often derided as a bastion of the “liberal media”.
That’s right. Captioned, “Add green peas to your guacamole”. They must have known the tweet would rub people the wrong way, for it ended with, “Trust us”.
Some like hot peppers in it, other like it simple with just avocados, tomatoes, onions and garlic. But the President also took time to respond to off-subject queries about basketball, music and guacamole.
“I lose my mind”, Obama said.
There are pea guacamole recipes all over the Internet and have been for years.
But the state of the union between guacamole and peas is not an easy one. The legendary paper offended and disturbed many subscribers when it tweeted out an article that suggested guacamole enthusiasts add PEAS(PEEEEAAAASSSS!!!) to their guac for “sweetness” and “texture”.
American commander-in-chef Obama, a noted guacamole lover, and Bush quickly leapt into the Twitter-sphere to defend pea-less dip.
During an #AskPOTUS session on Twitter on Wednesday, @JGreenDC asked the president: “Do you agree with the @nytimes about putting peas in guacamole?” And even though he’s only got 66 tweets under his belt, he’s been making the most of it.
