Volkswagen Recalls Thousands Of Cars In US For Faulty Airbags
As per USA Today, Volkswagen has recalled many cars because of this airbag issue.
Germany’s Volkswagen AG is recalling a total of 420,000 units of its vehicles in the US and another 41,300 in Canada due to a potential problem with air bags.
Volkswagen owners may not be too happy when they hear of the large recall being made by the company.
The world’s biggest carmaker said on Friday that the recall included VW Golf, Passat, Jetta, and Tiguan models assembled between 2010 and 2014. The vehicle recalls have been issued only for the U.S. market.
NHTSA said that no accidents have been reported so far about the current issues found with Mazda and Volkswagen vehicles covered in the new recalls announced by the companies.
The Mazda vehicles affected by the recalls number just under 200,000. According to the NHTSA, (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) debris could possibly rip through cables that power the airbag and prevent it from opening. This will only be in some states due to concerns about rust forming on the front suspension, which could result in steering loss.
Although Mazda and Volkswagen insist that they aren’t aware of any accidents or injuries that were caused by these problems, they are making the move from a precautionary standpoint. When all was said and done, Ford ended up spending 1.7 billion dollars between the recall, the repairs to the vehicles and the court settlements to injured and the families of the dead.
