‘Star Wars’ themed land planned at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The first “Star Wars” movie was released in 1977 and became embedded in pop culture.
In Tomorrowland at Disneyland park, guests will explore the Star Wars galaxy with special entertainment, themed food locations and Hyperspace Mountain – a reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction in which guests will join an X-wing Starfighter battle.
The World of AVATAR is now under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Star Wars fans have a lot to talk about today.
The Trevorrow-helmed Star Wars flick obviously hasn’t gone into production yet.
“This is not a job or an assignment”, Trevorrow said in a statement about his new directorial role.
“We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invention and hope”, Trevorrow said. On top of that, they released the first image of the “Star Wars: Rogue One” cast. He’ll share executive producer credits with Allison Shearmur (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, “Cinderella”), Simon Emanuel (“The Dark Knight Rises”, “Fast & Furious 6”) and Jason McGatlin (“Tintin”, “War of the Worlds”).
Disney’s Hollywood Studios park isn’t the only one getting an expansion as Animal Kingdom will be undergoing the largest expansion in the park’s history with Pandora: The World of Avatar.
In addition to the main trilogy, Disney and Lucasfilm are making a number of anthology spin-offs set in the “Star Wars” universe, including Edwards’ “Rogue One”, starring Felicity Jones and Diego Luna as rebels attempting to steal the plans for the Death Star, and a young Han Solo film from “The LEGO Movie” directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever”, Walt Disney Company Chairman CEO Bob Iger announced at the Disney-fan confab D23 Expo 2015 (as reported by Disney’s DisneyParks blog).
