Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony recruiting DeAndre Jordan, report says

One of the many high profile free agents in the National Basteball Association offseason is LA Clippers center DeAndre Jordan.

We now have a first glance at which franchises will vie for Jordan’s signature on a brand new contract. Deandre Jordan is exploring his options in free agency and is set to meet with several potential buyers, including the Lakers, Mavericks, Knicks, and his current team.

Although Jordan also met with the Los Angeles Lakers, the team was not impressive enough to gain strong consideration, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Brad Turner. The people spoke to U.S. TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the process.

It has been highly publicized that Deandre Jordan and Chris Paul have had their share of disagreements and have not been on the same page during the season. The timing of the Lakers meeting is unclear. This would negate the Los Angeles Clippers’ advantage in keeping Jordan. Would no players be involved for Dallas and Indiana might have to give up a pick or two for the Mavericks to eat Roy Hibbert’s $15 million salary?

Does that mean Jordan won’t re-sign with the Clippers?

Sources closer to Jordan reveal that the center is exhausted of his role as third fiddle behind Blake Griffin and Chris Paul and wants a better role in the offense. “But after years of feeling like the third guy at best on the team, the fact other teams are going to pump up his ego – as Parsons is already doing – will play well with a guy wanting that recognition”.

Players can begin signing with teams on July 9 after the league-mandated moratorium period on formal commitments ends.

The Clippers’ primary tool in their pursuit of free agents is the so-called mini-midlevel exception of US$3.37 million per year for up to three years.

Jordan, alone, does not make the Mavericks a contender all by himself. Parsons then flew to Los Angeles after the 2015 National Basteball Association draft on Thursday to spend more time with Jordan. Rivers and team owner Steve Ballmer are among a contingent of Clippers officials scheduled to meet with Jordan tomorrow in the Beverly Hills office of his agents.

While that all sounds good, the Knicks can not offer Aldridge two of the things he seems to be looking for; contending right away and returning home. This would allow for Jordan to operate with more space in the paint and showoff his ridiculous leaping ability. For starters, the Mavericks will need a couple wing players, as now the only true wings on the roster are Parsons and Anderson, but Devin Harris played plenty of backup shooting guard last season, as well.
