Over 3100 Galway Leaving Cert students to receive results
“It is not, and never has been, a make-or-break event, though the hype surrounding the release of the Leaving Certificate results hugely pressurises young people and their families into seeing it as such”. And people shouldn’t think, “I have to do this particular subject”.
However, students failing maths technically fail the Leaving Cert.
“His friends were around him – and they themselves did very well – and they were all sincerely giving him such warm congratulations, it was lovely to see”.
“We always knew he had great academic potential, but that was coupled with hard work”.
Of course the next problem is finding student accommodation.
“All Government Senators and TD’s voted for these cuts, However I have met many of them over the summer and they have agreed that Guidance is a vital service in schools”. He is planning to study maths at Trinity College, Dublin.
The results will determine whether student will get a college place and which courses they will be offered.
With thousands of students hoping to receive their desired points, they have been urged to take care whilst celebrating.
While 66 girls and 78 boys across the county sat the Leaving Cert applied examinations.
Some 5,764 pupils sat the honours physics paper this year, up almost 1,000 since 2013.
There’s also been a large increase in ordinary level maths grades.
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Over 3100 students at schools across Galway are getting their Leaving Certificate results today.
“Viatel has been a trusted supplier of ours for more than eight years”, said Tony Dolan, APO at the State Exams Commission. They will be available on the student’s CAO account from 6 am on that day.
“They should keep things in perspective and remember that these exams will not define their lives”, he added.
Minister for Education Jan O’Sullivan along with a number of celebrities on social media have wished students luck today.
She also paid tribute to teachers and other school staff who invested “enormous time and energy” in assisting students.
