Independence Day: Taj Mahal gets Twitter deal with!
With the launch of Taj Mahal’s twitter account today, the 17th century mausoleum became the “first historical monument” to have an official handle on the micro-blogging site. It is one of the seven wonders of the world. The Principal Secretary of UP Tourism, Amrit Abhijat said this initiative will encourage people to hashtag their images with Taj Mahal.
This is what the bio of the Twitter account says: “The official Twitter handle of the World’s most Loved Monument, located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. Those who have visited me and follow me here and those who haven’t seen me and yet follow me here”.
It’s good news for social media buffs! It checked the live feed and broadcast ahead of it. Within hours, the handle was flooded with people from across the world sharing their memories of the monument of love.
Earlier, the Agra circle of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had denied permission to hold an event at the Taj citing security and environment-related concerns.
