Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon confident in St. Louis as ‘NFL city’
New England quarterback Tom Brady and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell are set to make their first appearances in Manhattan federal court to seek a solution to “Deflategate”.
St. Louis obviously has history to draw from as far as having and maintaining an NFL franchise are concerned and not the good kind if you know what I mean.
That team owner is of course Stan Kroeneke and from all indications, he is not willing to do that with his obvious desires to get the stadium he is splitting the bill for in LA up and running rather quickly.
A spokesperson for Nixon said those expenditures are expected to increase by $1,128,910 in the coming fiscal year.
“The competition here is to make sure you keep your facilities and fan base so it is NFL ready, so that has been our mantra”, Nixon said.
With that in mind, how does the St. Louis Raiders sound?
In the many permutations of how the race to bring football back to Los Angeles could play out, one major factor in the middle of it all is what’s happening in the home markets of St. Louis, Oakland and San Diego. Despite the best efforts by those in St. Louis, team owner Stan Kroenke clearly wants to head for the coast.
“For years, we’ve been going to the Governor and the Legislature saying we just don’t have enough resources by way of the number of attorneys we have to deal with the 70,000 plus cases that we have every year representing poor Missourians who are charged with a criminal defense”, said Barrett. Which team will move, however, is still up for debate. Roughly half that money would come from the state and local funds, while the NFL owner and the league’s loan program would cover the other half.
The Rams argument for leaving centers on the idea of St. Louis breaking the terms of their lease by not updating the Edward Jones Dome. “So I just hope the right thing gets done”, he told ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.
