Customer saves Mumbai shopkeeper attacked with sword
However, the attack was foiled by a fearless customer who overpowered him.
The CCTV footage captures a fearless Muslim customer (name withheld) who bare-handedly came out in rescue of 32-year-old shop owner Rajnish Singh Thakur, who is physically challenged. They used to collect Rs. “These druggies are the gundas of the area”.
Posters were put up and flyers handed out to every shopkeeper.
The Thakurs, meanwhile, say they will be forever grateful to Mansuri and plan to felicitate him. Manish, Rajnish brother said that his brother would have been killed, if the customer did not save him.
The shopkeeper was attacked with a sword in suburban Chembur following which four persons have been arrested, police said. While Rajnish was rushed to the Kailash Jeevan Hospital in Govandi, Shaikh’s other five accomplices made a run for it. “We are the cops waiting for such an untoward incident or someone to die for taking action against the hooligans?” he asked. “Two are still absconding”, said senior police inspector Bhagwat Sonawane of Tilak Nagar police station.
There had been other attempts to intimidate Ranjish but this was by far the most serious.
Mid-day.com reports that though some of the extortionists were arrested, they were released after paying a fine.
Manish said that he and the shopkeepers will not be cowed down.
