Black Cats hoping for Borini loan deal
Sunderland have revived their interest in signing Fabio Borini from Liverpool.
It was thought the 24-year-old was going to head back to Italy, with Fiorentina leading the chase for him, but now Sunderland have re-entered the race.
Liverpool apparently want to offload the former Chelsea youngster permanently, although Dick Advocaat is believed to be keen on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
According to the Mail, the Black Cats are hopeful of sealing deals for both Borini and Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj, as they look to enhance a squad that lost its opening game of the season 4-2 at Leicester City.
Having rejected the Black Cats last summer, to stay and fight for his place in Brendan Rodgers’ team, the Italian striker managed just three Premier League starts in 2014/15.
Yesterday, United boss Louis van Gaal confirmed that he did not wish to sell the Belgian worldwide, but did not rule out a loan move.
Januzaj appeared to pour cold water on his chances of moving to the Stadium of Light yesterday when he cryptically tweeted a one-word message of “rumours” along with an emoji of a face with tears of laughter.
Sunderland haven’t given up hope of landing the 20-year-old though with the Red Devils hoping to complete the transfer of Barcelona winger Pedro, which would likely push Januzaj further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
