Police search for missing couple from Easton Connecticut
The family of 55-year-old Jeanette Navin and 56-year-old Jeffrey Navin of Easton addressed media reports about the couple’s debt in a statement released Thursday.
A missing Connecticut couple hasn’t been seen for nearly a week and now the family is desperately trying to get some answers.
The couple also owe CL & P, now Eversource, nearly $140,000 for overdue power bills, court records showed.
On Sunday, state police found a auto belonging to the Navin’s in Westport, close to exit 42, but neither person was found nearby.
“We’re still hoping they’re on vacation”, says Easton Police Chief Tim Shaw.
The statement went on to say that based on information obtained from investigators, Jeffery and Jeanette still have available funds on their banks accounts.
According to the Hartford Courant, Jeffrey Navin, 55, has been involved in a long-running court battle over the mortgage on a house in Guilford, Conn. The house was foreclosed on in 2007 and Navin reportedly owes $2.2 million on it. There are no words to describe the impact this has had on their parents, siblings, and children. “We, the entire Navin family, ask for privacy and respect during this overwhelming and troubling time”.
Shaw said that they are continuing investigations and are checking to see if the couple – Jeffrey runs a sanitation company in Westport while Jeanette works as a paraprofessional at Weston Intermediate School’s library – left on a flight out of one of the New York City airports.
“State police are processing the truck for any and every piece of evidence that can help point us in a direction”, said Chief Shaw.
Police are searching the auto for clues and looking into the Navins’ careers.
Where are Jeffrey and Jeannette Navin? They are former residents of Weston, living at 37 Osborn Farm Road, The Hour said. Police believe there is no danger to the public.
Anyone with information about the Navins was asked to call the Easton police at 203-268-4111.
