New Splatoon Update Hits The UK This Weekend

Rainmaker matches will have the same five minute time limit as other ranked battle modes, and a Tower Control-like scoreboard will be used as a tiebreaker.

I’m not usually one for capture the flag, and I’ve stayed away from Splatoon’s ranked battles for the most part, but I’m loving the look of the upcoming Rainmaker mode. As soon as the battle begins, grab onto that Rainmaker! Because of its heavy weight, Super Jumping will be disabled while carrying the Rainmaker.

Introducing…. Rainmaker! In Rainmaker, both teams compete to snag the, uhhh, Rainmaker. If the player carrying this weapon of mass inkstruction falls, the Rainmaker’s shield will return and must be broken again before it can be reacquired. Once you’ve got it, the goal is to carry it into the other team’s base!

In exchange the Rainmaker is incredibly powerful, shooting Inkzooka-like shots that can even be charged further to unleash true havoc on the battlefield. You’ll be able to try out the new mode at 7 PM PDT tomorrow.
