Lindsey Vonn crashes on training run and fractures ankle
Lindsey Vonn, an American skier, fractured her ankle during training on Thursday.
She was heading home to Vail, Colorado, to have the ankle examined further.
Lindsey Vonn shared the news of her fracture with her fans via Twitter (TWTR).
Last season, she returned to win eight World Cup races, improving her total to a record 67 victories.
Vonn, who was in New Zealand for a second week for her first on-snow training ahead of the new season, did not say which ankle was damaged.
Vonn missed the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi during a frustrating spell of major knee injuries.
Vonn won Olympic gold in the downhill and a bronze in the Super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and gold in the downhill and the super-G at the 2009 World Championships.
Lindsey Vonn said that she is now returning to America.
Despite the injury, she added two hashtags that said “minor setback” and “cant slow me down”.
