It’s the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster!
On the cover of this issue is Lamborghini’s newest powerhouse and update to their most successful model ever: the Aventador LP 750-4 SuperVeloce, or, for short, the Aventador SV.
A vision of drama, the new Aventador looks to be vintage Lamborghini, with the lack of roof only adding to the insane styling quirks of its coupe brother.
Other than the price, open-top design and greater exclusivity, there isn’t much separating the Aventador SV Roadster from its coupe sibling. A tenth of the acceleration time meaning 62mph now comes up in 2.9 rather than 2.8 seconds and the same 219mph top speed.
In his own words, Winkelmann called the fresh Superveloce Roadster “the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever”, according to USA Today.
Unfortunately, Aventador SV Roadsters will be a rare sight as just 500 examples will be built for worldwide consumption, 100 less than the coupe which managed to sell out within weeks of its debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show.
Aerodynamic enhancements include a large front splitter and the three-way adjustable fixed rear wing introduced on the SV Coupe.
“What the Roadster does have that the Coupe doesn’t is a pair of removable panels for a roof – each weighing just 6kg – that can be popped out and stowed in the boot (well, “frunk”) for some open air fun, as well as a power rear window which Lamborghini say is so you can “…hear invigorating tones and harmonics during spirited driving”.
The engine is mated to a 7-speed ISR transmission which transfers the engine’s power to all four wheels through a Haldex Generation IV 4WD system. Lamborghini Dynamic Steering and Magneto Rheological Suspension help the driver make the most of the V12’s grunt both on and off the track. MSRP for one of these beauties starts out at $530,075 which should be chump change if you’re even considering buying one.
