Hillary Clinton hits back at Jeb Bush on Iraq
“Now he is trying to backtrack, probably because his brother said, wait a minute, you are killing me”. “I’m running for president“.
Asked if he was “all-in” for the leadoff caucus state, the former Florida governor stressed that he would be “competitive”.
“When you are president your words matter”, he said.
Republican presidential candidate, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, speaks during a forum sponsored by Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security, Thursday, August 13, 2015, at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. “There’s a difference between enhanced interrogation techniques and torture”, Mr. Bush said. “Torture’s – America doesn’t do torture”. Bush saw it and posed for a picture with Dejongoa and his two teenage buddies. I’m just saying, if I’m going to be president of the United States, I take this threat seriously. He said it was a mistake to stop the NSA’s bulk collection of Americans’ metadata because there’s no evidence that “civil liberties were violated, that people’s privacy was violated”. That’s why, he reportedly stated, “I’m not saying in every condition, under every possible scenario” he would reject the use of torture. “And one of the most important duties, if not the most important duty of the president is to do the same”, he continued, to applause.
Of course, a list released by the Bush campaign back in February had Wolfowitz’s name on it, but why on earth would he remind us?
“Last time around there were candidates that were winning at this point that never even made it to the starting line”, Bush said. “There’s evidence in the Senate torture report of that”. Congress is expected to move on the authorization bill upon their return in September.
To his credit, Bush didn’t fall too far off the bandwagon. I have covered stories on cultures and norms of our country for a local lifestyle magazine Ice Today magazine.
Pitter said she believed that those who created the program and carried it out should be prosecuted.
“We’ve got to get a fresh start”, he said. “No leader or policymaker involved will claim to have gotten everything right in the region, Iraq especially”, he said.
“In effect he said no to both lowering student loans and tax burdens on people who have student debt“, she added.
Bush also talked about a number of other issues during his remarks at the fair, one of the biggest political events in the state leading up to the nation’s first presidential nominating contest in 2016.
Voters might also recall that when Bush’s brother took office, Iran had no operational uranium enrichment centrifuges; when he left, Iran had about 4,000.
After finally admitting that his brother’s invasion of Iraq wasn’t a good idea based on what we know now, Jeb! decided that he wasn’t being fair – not to history, but to his brother.
