Sunshine Beat Giwa 4-0 To Regain NPFL Top Spot

Sunshine Stars of Akure returned to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League log after spanking Jos-based side Giwa FC 4-0 in a week 23 encounter played out at the Akure Township Stadium yesterday evening.

A second half goal from Gyang Danladi handed Giwa a 1-0 win in the first leg after failed attempts in their opening two games – and the hosts will be hoping to avenge that painful defeat which they attributed to the poor condition of the Rwang Pam Stadium.

In the North-central derby, Taraba FC tried hard but Coach Ndubuisi Nduka’s wards could not fail to fall to Anthony Okpotu’s brace to end the game with a 1-2 loss.

In Kano, Pillars demolished Shooting Stars 4-1 at the Sani Abacha stadium as the gradually make their way back to the top four teams as the league begin to wind down the 2014/15 season.
