Apple starts selling Watch bands for people with bigger wrists
With the new accessories, even if you look like Popeye, you can still wear an Apple Watch.
Also unveiled today is a new kit to enlarge the size of the Link Bracelet. The first accessory, simply called Link Bracelet Kit, costs $49 from Apple and includes six additional links to expand the Link Bracelet to fit wrists as large as 245mm. Don’t worry, no tools are required to add or remove links. Apple Watch Sport Bands are now sold in two configurations: S/M & M/L, and M/L & L/XL. Available in black and white, this band fits wrists that measure between 195mm to 245mm-previously, the largest Sport Band fit wrists between 160mm and 210mm.
If you happen to have purchased the Apple Watch with a Link Bracelet only to find that it’s too tight or, worse, doesn’t fit at all, then Apple now has a solution.
Watch prices range from $349 for the 38mm Sport model to $17,000 for the most expensive 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition.
The entry-level Sport Band now comes in a “Large and Extra Large” size, with a “Medium and Large” sized band also in the box.
These links augment the 42mm stainless steel Link Bracelet by an extra 40mm. The kit will ship within 5-7 business days. The $249 option has been listed as a band available for purchasing on its own since the Watch launched earlier this year, but until today it has been unavailable.
Furthermore, Apple has also stocked standalone Modern Buckle bands for 38mm stainless steel Apple Watches.
The first online watch orders began to arrive in late April, and the device hit Apple Stores in June.
