Israeli troops shoot Palestinian after he stabbed a soldier

Some Palestinians feel the law is intended to weaken negotiating powers of prisoners who frequently use hunger strikes to protest administrative detention – a provision which authorizes Israeli authorities to detain inmates for six months and is often extended to prolong imprisonment for years.

The High Court of Justice convened on Monday afternoon to discuss an appeal filed by Allaan’s lawyer calling for his immediate release from Israeli detention. Allan’s worsening condition came following a rejection on Thursday of a request for his medical release. An ethics committee at the hospital authorized taking blood samples as a first step to force-feeding him, but doctors declined to comply.

It said that the foreign ministry has prepared a complete file on the Israeli killing and wounding of Palestinian young men in the field instead of arresting them, and called on the worldwide community to protect the Palestinians.

So far, no doctor has agreed to conduct force feeding on Allan, according to the Times.
