Kyle Busch wins Pocono Mountains 150
The red flag lasted about fifteen minutes. He was assessed a pass-through penalty when one of his tires rolled down pit road after the incident.
Kevin Harvick qualified second and Joey Logano third. Then, at the start of the last lap around the 2.5-mile track, Busch had a similar fate. But it was better than getting caught in the middle of the pack when the next caution flag came out. It was always the biggest crowds of fans that we had anywhere we went, standing there waiting for the teams and the drivers to arrive and wanting to get a glimpse, a picture, an autograph; and that’s been maintained throughout all the years.
After repairs, Crafton finished 28th, 56 laps in arrears. Before they had completed a full lap, the caution returned as Ku. Kahne’s vehicle hit helmets that were perched on the wall in AJ Allmendinger’s pit stall and sent them flying as people scattered.
Keslowski was involved in a similar accident in Kentucky three weeks ago. The race totaled eight cautions, well shy of the surprisingly high record of thirteen.
The Windows 10 400 turned more into a save than a race. Ford driver Logano, Chevy man Truex Jr. and Busch all pitted on lap 124. But for most of the race, Logano led the way, with Kyle Busch not far behind.
The second half of the race was mostly clean with only two more cautions thrown.
On lap 124, Kenseth – along with numerous front-runners – came to pit road. “But here, if someone pits a lap or two early and they are within two or three seconds they will jump you and get in front of you”. Busch said he didn’t realize he was that close to running out, otherwise he would’ve saved more. Numerous drivers, including Matt Kenseth, elected to stay in fourth gear, rather than downshift through the turns, to save fuel. And the end, Logano ran out of gas with three laps to go.
Earnhardt had a fast vehicle at the beginning of the race, however, on Lap 53, his tach failed.
Kenseth’s fuel strategy was so well planned, he entertained the crowd with a burn out, doughnuts, a victory lap, and even made it into victory lane.

But by finishing 21st, he remains 13 points behind 30th-ranked David Gilliland with five regular season races to go.
Kenseth’s win continued the sensational summer run for Joe Gibbs Racing, making it five wins in the last six races. The NASCAR postseason starts in six races, the next of which is at Watkin’s Glen next weekend. It is the second and last road course on the NASCAR circuit.
