Celebrity chef Sandra Lee leaves hospital after surgery
She had to undergo another procedure to fix the problem, and she was discharged from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City on Wednesday (12Aug15). She’s anxious to get home.
Lee revealed she had breast cancer on May 12 and had the surgery May 19.
According to a Facebook post written by her team on Wednesday, the Food Network star was “up and energized” and “determined to go home today, even if that means “hosting” a pick line or med line for IV infusions, as she must stay on massive antibiotics for a couple of weeks to fight against infection”.
Lee, 49 – the star of “Semi-Homemade Cooking” – returned to the hospital Monday night after being home for the weekend. The girl simply wants to GO HOME!! Sandra will have portable IVs and 24-hour nursing care to start – and her sister Kimmy is flying in from Seattle today to help with Sandra’s recovery. On the day when Lee was taken to hospital, Cuomo, 57, was attending a Billy Joel concert, but left the concert early to be with her. “So my plan for tomorrow is game, set, match!”, she said.
Those close to her appear to think that time will come sooner rather than later.
“We are happy to let you know that Sandra Lee is out of surgery”. She was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant, an autoimmune condition that causes her to be more likely to develop blood clots than the average person, before she was diagnosed with cancer. The cancer was found after a routine mammogram.
Lee said she initially had a lumpectomy, but it wasn’t enough. She said she decided to talk about her illness to encourage other women to get screened. She and Cuomo share a home in Westchester County.
