First Look at Luke Skywalker in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’
At the same D23 expo where the new artwork was revealed, it was also confirmed that two Star Wars-themed lands are coming to Disneyland in California and Disney world in Florida.
That means we get a good look at Peckham-born John Boyega, who studied performing arts at South Thames College in Wandsworth, in one of the lead roles.
The Star Wars land would be “every bit as thrilling as the films” and will include attractions and entertainment in an area populated by aliens and droids. The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and is slated for a December 16, 2016 release.
But in any case, there is a very noticeable divide in the community of “Star Wars” fans, and not everyone is particularly fond of the idea of continuing the franchise.
Pegg has plenty of experience as a screenwriter on films like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul, last year’s terrific The World’s End, and the now filming Star Trek Beyond, so he clearly understands story and character quite well. There was also no mention of other original trilogy characters, or The Force Awakens versions of any of the original characters.
To create the lived-in, realistic feel of “Rogue One”, Edwards chose Greig Fraser (“Zero Dark Thirty”, “Foxcatcher”) to be his director of photography and Neil Corbould (“Black Hawk Down”, “Gladiator”, “Saving Private Ryan”) to be his special effects supervisor.
Lightstabber was separated from Luke’s father Darth Vader in the 1980’s “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back“.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
