Brian Hyde Charged With Triple Homicide in Lehigh Acres, Florida
A 19-year-old illegal immigrant was being held without bail Saturday after the discovery of three bodies at a crime scene in a Florida home that veteran cops called “almost unimaginable”. Roaring Creek native Dorla Pitts, her pregnant daughter Starlette Pitts and her boyfriend Myke Kelly were found stabbed to death in their home on Tuesday morning – the only survivor: Starlette’s and Myke’s 1 year old baby girl.
He said there is evidence all the victims tried to defend themselves. She is believed to be the daughter of the Lehigh Senior High School students Starlett and Michael, who were brutally murdered in the adjacent room, according to NBC News.
As investigators were processing the crime scene, officers arrested Dorla Pitts’ nephew, 19-year-old Brian Omar Hyde, for driving on the wrong side of the road. His cousin, 17-year-old Starlette Pitts, was six months pregnant.
According to Belize media outlets, Hyde was also arrested in November of last year for assaulting a police officer, a charge he later disputed.
Kelly’s mother, Sherri Flemming, 40, looked exhausted and resigned Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by family at her east Fort Myers home. Myers. He was now wanted in Belize in connection to a robbery of a cell phone store.
WINK News reports that Hyde entered the U.S. illegally through the Texas border in January 2015.
Other Belize police reports claim that Hyde and two other male accomplices were persons of interest in a double homicide that occurred in October 2013. He was only charged with a lesser crime of “handling stolen goods”. He is said to have come from a “criminal family” according to a newspaper reporter in Belize and reported by NBC-2. Both male victims were found decapitated and dismembered.
In addition, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was told that their murder suspect’s uncle, Russell Hyde, was suspected of participating in the brutal murders of two Belize nationals in May 2015.
In a statement released by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the organization “has filed a request with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for notification if they intend to release the individual from custody”. When police approached the vehicle they noticed the illegal immigrant had blood on his shoes and trousers; blood was also spotted inside of the auto.
“There was an investigation opened, but a murder charge trumps that”, said a representative of the Sheriff’s Public Information Office. He will also remain at the Lee County jail until his arraignment on September 23.
