Ford recalls 433K cars because of software problem – Quincy Herald-Whig
Ford is issuing a safety recall on approximately 433,000 vehicles for a problem with the body control module software, which may not shut off the engine even after the key is removed, or the stop/start button is depressed. As a result of the software glitch, the car engine would keep running despite the driver turning off the engine using keys and removing them.
The recall affects certain 2015 Focus, C-MAX and Escape vehicles.
The Dearborn, Michigan-based company says no injuries or accidents have been associated with the problem.
The recalled cars and SUVs were built during specific manufacturing periods.
Certain 2015 Escape vehicles built at the Louisville Assembly Plant from April 1, 2014 through June 12, 2015. Not quite. Ford is informing that there’s “an issue” with an electrical gizmo we refer to as body control module.
About 375,000 of the models were sold in America, while 52,000 were sold in Canada and 5,000 in Mexico, according to ABC News.
