DOJ investigates police shooting of unarmed white teen in South Carolina

“Zach didn’t do anything to deserve two bullets in his back”, his mother said.

The allegation comes in the face of crumbling police defense and fuels the perception of police brutality against unarmed teens.

Hammond’s family hired a medical examiner to do a private autopsy, which showed that the teen was shot in the back.
Federal authorities said they will join the investigation into the death of Hammond.
The shooting death of 19-year-old Zachary Hammond in a drug sting will be reviewed by the Department of Justice’s civil rights division and the FBI as the family calls for the release of a police dashcam video of the incident in Seneca, South Carolina.
