Pro-Bush super PAC spending $10M-plus on initial TV campaign
Republican presidential candidate, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, speaks to fairgoers at the Iowa State Fair, Friday, August 14, 2015, in Des Moines, Iowa.
The move, described as the first phase of the super PAC’s campaign to support Bush, coincides with a drop in the polls for the former two-term Florida governor. Ads are scheduled to begin in Iowa and New Hampshire on September 15 and in South Carolina a week later and continue through the end of the year.
Right to Rise blew the field out of the water last month when it announced a $103 million haul in the first six months of 2015, dwarfing group’s supporting the rest of the field.
“We believe Jeb Bush has the strongest record of conservative accomplishments in the race, and we plan to tell that story with a sustained and independent campaign”, Right to Rise USA spokesman Paul Lindsey said in an email exchange with the Washington Examiner. The Related Press, which 1st reported the group’s advertising plans, stated initial commercials shall be positive spots promoting Bush & his record as Florida governor. Future ads, however, could confront other candidates in the crowded GOP contest, the AP reported. One piece was taken from clips of Bush from the August 6 Republican debate in Cleveland, Lindsay said. Bush’s powerfully funded super political action committee will spend at least $10 million on August 17 to buy television advertising in several early voting states. Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, attempted it later in his campaign. The advertising will run by means of the complete of Dec.in all three states. In June, the group had a balance of $98 million.
