Obama Tees Off With Bill Clinton on Martha’s Vineyard
President Barack Obama has an ambitious list to get through during his 16-day vacation in Martha’s Vineyard – and this one doesn’t involve calling lawmakers to support the Iran deal.
Mr. Obama and Mr. Clinton have golfed together at least three times since the current President entered office, including January 2013, shortly after Mr. Obama’s re-election.
The Gazette reported that the president’s golf partners Wednesday were retired basketball player Alonzo Mourning, former Celtic Ray Allen, and friend Cyrus Walker.
Later Saturday, Obama, Clinton, and their wives attended Jordan’s 80th birthday party.
Clinton and Obama will meet on the same exclusive Massachusetts vacation island on which they met last August under strained circumstances.
In 2008, Mr. Obama’s victory in Iowa’s Democratic primary contest helped propel him to beat Ms. Clinton for the party’s nomination.
Jordan serves as a sort of go-between between the president and the Clintons.
Jordan (right) has known the Obamas for decades and used to advise Bill Clinton.
The menu included salad, surf and turf and birthday cake, according to the press pool.
Even the president needs a little vacation.
Mrs. Clinton will quickly dash over to the other island: she is scheduled to appear at a 2 p.m. fundraiser on Nantucket at the home of Ambassador Elizabeth Frawley Bagley. She accused her Republican opponents and GOP lawmakers of partisanship as the email affair continued to overshadow her campaign.
Lots of golf, a family outing on a private beach and a stack of books.
Hillary held a fundraiser on the island the next morning, and then headed to Nantucket for another fundraiser on Sunday afternoon.
