Chelsea concerned over John Stones transfer with interest from both Manchester
Manchester United are ready to try and hijack Chelsea’s move for John Stones by tempting Everton with a swap deal involving out-of-favour defender Jonny Evans, according to ESPN. “He is a young man with a very impressive future”.
The champions have failed with two offers worth £20m and £26m for Stones, who has been capped four times, with Everton infuriated by the pursuit and adamant the defender will not be sold this summer. Stones has not given any indication that he wants a move to Chelsea FC so if he has done so it was behind closed doors. How loyal were we as a club to Hassell and Foster for the service they had given us? Mourinho indicated last Friday he was confident there would still be “one or two” new arrivals, though that urgency has since been heightened by a defeat which left his side already trailing last year’s runners-up by five points just eight days into the new campaign. But the club have identified Swans and Wales centre-back Williams, 30, as a replacement. Prior examples of this are Mohamed Salah and Juan Cuadrado, who joined the team for significant sums of cash only to be restricted to places on the bench and cameos.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has called for unity following a supporters’ protest against chairman Bill Kenwright and the board of directors during the Toffees’ 3-0 Premier League win over Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
Still, if a player has made his mind up that he will leave a club then there is little that will stop him.
