Cake with a ‘blind girl’ on top thanks to autocorrect fail
In her text message to the baker, Marie asked if it would be possible to put a “wee blonde girl” – resembling Laura – on top of the cake.
A woman received an unexpected birthday surprise after her mother came home with a celebratory cake featuring a rather unconventional topper.
But after a prompt from the baker, Marie swiftly wrote a response, not realising her phone’s capability for “autocorrecting” certain words. Autocorrect decided she meant blind, and Emily’s sister got a likeness she certainly wasn’t counting on.
Blind? Blonde? What’s the difference really.
Marie Seggie asked a pal to bake a cake for her daughter’s 21st birthday but then wanted a blond figurine on top at the last minute due to Laura’s golden locks. On top was a small, dark-haired girl, wearing a red dress and carrying a white cane.
Her daughter is blonde, so she asked the baker to decorate the cake with a “blonde girl” figurine.
She didn’t notice that her iPhone had autocorrected the message to read “wee blind girl”.
‘Thankfully we all saw the amusing side of it, including my mum’s friend. Laura’s sister told Mashable the family contemplated taking the figure off the cake, but Laura decided to keep it on because the humor of the situation outweighed the offensive nature of it.
A photo of the handsome white and brown cake has been favorited more than 15,000 times and retweeted more than 9,500 times, in less than 24 hours of her posting it.
