Flores praises ‘family’ feeling at Watford
“At half-time I told the players they had to push up the pitch, and in the end we probably missed the best chance of the game”.
Rondon is facing a race to prove his fitness in time for West Brom’s trip to Watford, but once up to speed Pulis believes he can have a similar impact to Demba Ba.
Quique Flores praised the “family” feeling at Watford after seeing his side maintain their unbeaten start with a 0-0 draw against West Brom. But on the field, at least, Watford appear ready for life in the Barclays Premier League.
But he has yet to find the net in their opening two matches and at times cut a frustrated figure during Saturday’s goalless draw at home to West Brom.
Watford were unable to convert that into goals, though, and Pulis’ side could have snatched all three points had Saido Berahino converted a late chance from Gareth McAuley’s knock-down.
This was another encouraging display from last season’s Championship runners-up and, while Vicarage Road is still some way from being fully developed, Flores’ expensively assembled team seem at home. Maybe if we scored the first goal it would have been different because West Brom would need to equalise and it would have been a different match.
While it’s an understandable approach, there is a certain degree of frustration attached to it. Watford have signed well in the summer and picked up a very credible point against Everton in their opener, but to go and play with little to no attacking ambition was disappointing.
“The clubs are talking to arrange the last details and I expect him to come to us”.
They came through the first round game at Crewe and know that if they won here then they’d be in the hat with the biggest sides in England in the next round.
