Jon Bon Jovi concert in Vancouver’s Stanley Park scrapped
Regrettably, the August. 22, 2015 concert in Stanley Park featuring Jon Bon Jovi & the Kings of Suburbia must be canceled.
The show was supposed to mark the launch of an open air event series organized by Vancouver-based Paper Rain Performances.
“We regret that we have been unable to gain the agreement of the artist’s management at this time regarding this postponement”, the statement reads. According to an article in the Vancouver Sun, the park board said the promoter failed to secure “the required City permits for the concert in place as of today”.
“The Board is supportive in general of special events and concerts in our Parks, providing they meet our standards and provide fun, safe and orderly environments for attendees”.
A friendly competition poll in a New Jersey newspaper asked fans which band was more popular, Bon Jovi or The E Street Band.
Snoek could not say why organizers were unable to secure the permits, and directed all further questions to Paper Rain Performances.
The outdoor concert was announced with great fanfare by Dennis MacDonald, president of Paper Rain Performances, and former Vancouver Canucks owner Arthur Griffith’s, the company’s executive producer, in early June. A spokesperson from Bon Jovi Tours Inc. has issued a statement about the cancellation of the show, which was on track to sell out.
Other sources said sluggish ticket sales were to blame.
There will be 14,000 tickets available and they will range from $39.95 to $595 for a VIP package.
A request for comment from Paper Rain Performances was not immediately returned Monday.
Bon Jovi is dropping a new album, “Burning Bridges” and revealed that he is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his musical career.
