Roger Federer’s effortless stroll through the early stages at Wimbledon continued as he brought out the party tricks in a 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Sam Querrey to reach the third round. I just felt like I had the time.

Murray caused some amusement when he threw his wristband into the crowd where it hit the head of All England Club chairman Phillip Brook, who then handed it as a gift to Prince Charles’ wife Camilla who was sitting next to him. “I’ve been playing well this season, really since here a year ago”.

Said Federer, “It all happens very quickly”.

“Against him, you have to go out with a different mindset and different belief”, Tomic said. He hits shots that other guys don’t hit.

Murray led the way by polishing off Dutchman Robin Haase 6-1 6-1 6-4 in 87 minutes with barely a misplaced shot.

The American seemed as cool as a cucumber when facing his first break points at 4-4, saving all three with serves of over 130mph.

Another serving machine, Ivo Karlovic, progressed to the third round, as did Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Tomas Berdych and Gael Monfils, while Roberto Bautista-Agut came from two sets to love down to defeat Frenchman Benoit Paire.

Ex- Wimbledon champion Amelie Mauresmo doesn’t come to the All England Club to play anymore, but she still has some work to do in southwest London. The defending doubles champion (with American partner Jack Sock) posted a four-set win over 30th seed Fabio Fognini, 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, breaking the fiery Italian three times, converting on 83 per cent of his first serve points and firing 23 aces.
